Wheaton College Graduate School
MICHELLE KNIGHT PH.D. ’17 doesn’t sit still for long. Drawn to Wheaton straight from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School by the opportunity to work with the Gunther H. Knoedler Professor of Old Testament Dr. Daniel Block, she was compelled by the integrative structure of Wheaton’s biblical and theological studies program.
Michelle’s scholarly work centers on the literary and theological function of the Song of Deborah and Barak in Judges.
“We have a tendency to skim over songs or poems when they interrupt the narrative, but the prophet’s song in Judges is crucial for interpreting the conquest and the Israelites’ devotion to God’s purposes,” Michelle notes.
Michelle was thrilled to teach a section of Old Testament Literature and Interpretation this year, as it gave her a taste of living out her dream job as an Old Testament professor.
“To have the honor of introducing students to the great story of God’s redemptive work, to help them flex their newfound academic muscles, and to watch their eyes light up as they realize this dusty old book contains words that are relevant and inspiring—this is everything Wheaton has been forming me to do.”
